Nursery Rhymes

My theme next week (March 7-11) is Nursery Rhymes. It is going to be a fun unit and there is no shortage of material on the subject at hand, let me tell you. There are literally hundreds of Nursery Rhyme books (since the rhymes are all in the public domain anyone - seriously, anyone - can publish their own Nursery Rhyme book) to choose from to read to your class. There are over a hundred at my local public library alone!

Here's my lesson plan for the week. You can click on the picture to view the full-size image.

I am very excited for this week. The Unbirthday Party is what I'm most looking forward to - I mean, who doesn't want to end their week with a party? And cupcakes, too! I also can't wait to see how their Nursery Rhymes Mad Libs turn out. The kids always get a kick out of Mad Libs when I bring them in, so a Nursery Rhymes edition should be fun for us all.

I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't get my hands on The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster. It looks really funny. Maybe, if I'm lucky, one of the kids will bring it in.

Well, it's off to the library for me... I need to go pick up my books and finish up cutting and drawing and preparing the art projects for the new week. There's so much to be done!
